This senior role focuses on leading the delivery of a varied portfolio, supporting senior management, and coordinating field teams to uphold high technical standards.

You will develop long-term client relationships, oversee project performance, and ensure compliance with current UKAS and HSG guidance.

Qualifications

  • Significant asbestos industry experience, with a track record in project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage asbestos surveying and analytical projects from start to finish
  • Act as senior second-in-command supporting daily operations
  • Coordinate and support asbestos surveyors and analysts
  • Plan workloads, resources, and project schedules
  • Maintain strong client relationships and manage expectations
  • Provide technical guidance to field teams
  • Review reports to ensure quality and compliance
  • Support quotations, tenders, and business development
  • Mentor junior staff and develop the technical team
  • Ensure projects comply with UK asbestos legislation and HSG guidance

Job Title: Asbestos Project Manager

Location: Glasgow

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established asbestos consultancy in their search for an experienced Asbestos Project Manager to join their team in Glasgow.

This is a senior appointment within the business and an excellent opportunity for an experienced asbestos professional looking to step into a second-in-command type of position, working closely with senior management to oversee the day-to-day delivery of projects, support technical teams, and help drive the continued development of the operation.

The successful Asbestos Project Manager will have significant responsibility and autonomy, making this an ideal opportunity for someone looking to progress beyond traditional project management and establish themselves as a key member of the leadership team.

THE ROLE

As an Asbestos Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of a varied portfolio of asbestos projects across Glasgow and the wider Scotland region.

Alongside managing projects, you'll act as a senior point of contact within the business, supporting management with operational decisions, overseeing field-based teams, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring consistently high technical standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Managing asbestos surveying and analytical projects from initial instruction through to completion
  • Acting as a key second-in-command within the operation, supporting senior management with the day-to-day running of the business
  • Coordinating and supporting Asbestos Surveyors, Analysts, and other technical staff
  • Planning workloads, resources, site attendance, and project schedules
  • Acting as a senior point of contact for key clients
  • Developing and maintaining strong long‑term client relationships
  • Providing technical guidance and support to field-based teams
  • Reviewing reports and project documentation to maintain technical and quality standards
  • Managing project performance, resources, deadlines, and client expectations
  • Supporting quotations, tenders, and business development activities where required
  • Helping develop junior and experienced members of the technical team
  • Ensuring projects comply with current asbestos legislation, HSG264, HSG248, HSE guidance, and relevant UKAS procedures
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Significant experience within the asbestos industry
  • Previous experience within project management, operations, technical management, or a senior supervisory position
  • Strong technical understanding of asbestos surveying and analytical services
  • Relevant BOHS qualifications such as P402, P403 and P404 are highly desirable
  • Previous experience managing or coordinating asbestos professionals
  • Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities
  • Excellent client‑facing and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and operational priorities simultaneously
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of project performance
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ambition to take on significant responsibility within a growing business
