Your role will help the UK transition to clean energy by ensuring our electricity network is fit for the future and by carrying clean, secure energy from generation to demand.

Responsibilities
  • Support Project Managers and operational teams to deliver projects from start to finish.
  • Assist with communication and site coordination between contractors, third parties and internal teams, promoting a strong safety culture in line with National Grid standards.
  • Contribute to weekly reports, participate in project meetings and help manage essential project documentation.
  • Ensure safety and quality standards are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track project milestones, contribute to planning and programme management activities and support the oversight of contractor performance to meet key deliverables.
Location & Travel

This role is based in the Pentir office and offers flexible, hybrid working. You will support the delivery of one of our major infrastructure projects within SI, and must live within a 45‑60 minute commute of postcode LL57 4EG. The role requires travel to site locations across the North Wales region; annually you are expected to travel more than 10,000 miles for business.

Assessment & Application

National Grid’s Apprenticeship programme in the UK is open to all applicants who meet the eligibility criteria, including a valid right to work in the UK. We recruit on a rolling basis and reserve the right to close vacancies once we have enough applications. Assessment centres will be held between January and April 2026. Please note that National Grid is usually unable to offer sponsorship under the UK points‑based immigration system; applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of five GCSEs with grades 9 to 4 (A to C), including English, Maths, and a Science (or equivalent).
  • Predicted or achieved two A‑Levels at grade C or above, including one STEM subject, or a BTEC National Certificate, or a Diploma Level 3 in a STEM discipline with Merit or Distinction.
  • A valid driving licence is required; if not held, one must be obtained by 31 May 2026.
  • Flexibility to travel, including frequent overnight stays away from home in pre‑booked accommodation.

You do not need prior work experience; determination and a willingness to learn are more important.
