Project Management Apprentice – Broadcast & End User Technology
Join the BBC as a Project Management apprentice in Broadcast & End User Technology. Help deliver major projects, from studio upgrades to site builds, while gaining hands‑on experience and expert training. Learn to manage budgets, timelines and the tech that powers award‑winning BBC content.
Responsibilities
- Manage various administrative and reporting tasks to a deadline.
- Communicate with stakeholders impacted by projects and provide timely updates.
- Take ownership of small‑scale projects and support the delivery of medium and large‑scale initiatives.
- Gain hands‑on experience in technical delivery activities; apply project management methods learned during your academic studies.
- Apply governance frameworks, including drafting and maintaining project management plans, business cases and controlling time, cost and quality.
- Analyse the business environment, identify opportunities and challenges, and consider ethical, legal and regulatory constraints (including the green economy and net‑carbon‑zero policies).
- Lead stakeholder and communications management: identify and analyse stakeholders, implement a communication plan, and influence others through negotiation and persuasion.
- Control projects against time, cost and quality objectives, produce status reports, and establish performance indicators.
- Manage risk by identifying, evaluating and mitigating risks and issues, and maintaining a risk management plan.
- Handle commercial and contract management, choosing appropriate procurement types and supporting contract execution.
- Apply change control processes to decide on and manage change requests.
- Maintain project schedules, resolve scheduling problems, and negotiate resource allocation.
Apprenticeship Structure
The programme is structured across three learning levels:
- Level 4: Covers Business Environment, Stakeholder Management and Project Planning & Control.
- Level 5: Focuses on Project Management Professionalism and Professional Development.
- Level 6: Includes Programme & Portfolio Management, Project Leadership & Governance, and Change & Risk Management.
The apprenticeship concludes with an integrated End Point Assessment (EPA).
Qualifications
- GCSE in English and Maths (grade 4/C or above).
- A Level or equivalent Level 3 qualification(s) equating to 96 UCAS points.
- Relevant qualifications and industry experience are welcome; the apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect prior knowledge.
