Job description

Role Description

Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. With over 34,000 people in more than 30 countries, we are dedicated to improving quality of life and solving complex challenges together.

As a Project Manager – Construction Delivery, you will support and coordinate the successful delivery of construction‑related activities within complex, highly regulated programme environments. The role focuses on providing construction delivery leadership, coordinating and delivering project management capability across defined packages, site areas or technical interfaces.

This management‑level role works across client, contractor, consultant and multidisciplinary delivery teams to ensure construction activities are planned, coordinated and delivered in line with agreed scope, programme, cost, quality, safety and governance requirements.

The role requires a balanced approach between site engagement, project management discipline and stakeholder coordination. You will understand delivery constraints, support practical and technical issue resolution, maintain strong relationships with delivery partners, and provide clear reporting and recommendations to support effective decision‑making.

You will act as a key interface between construction delivery, project management, engineering, commercial, project controls, health and safety, quality and wider stakeholder teams, integrating construction delivery into wider programme governance for a collaborative, controlled, outcome‑focused delivery environment.

Opportunities may include establishing and supporting major nuclear programmes, contributing to nationally significant infrastructure and energy transition outcomes, in a fast‑paced, evolving environment that requires adaptability to uncertainty, ambiguity and change.

Role Accountabilities
  • Construction Delivery Leadership
    • Lead and support the delivery of defined construction packages, site areas or interfaces, ensuring alignment with agreed scope, programme, cost, quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
    • Provide visible leadership across contractors, delivery partners and multidisciplinary teams, setting clear expectations for collaboration, accountability and reliable delivery.
    • Coordinate construction delivery activities, ensuring works are appropriately planned, sequenced, monitored and progressed in line with project governance and delivery priorities.
    • Identify and help resolve delivery constraints, interface issues and risks, ensuring actions, decisions and escalations are clearly recorded and managed.
  • Construction Readiness, Assurance and Close‑Out
    • Support construction readiness, delivery planning and assurance activities to confirm works are appropriately prepared, coordinated and progressed.
    • Work with engineering, health and safety, quality and delivery teams to support safe, compliant and practical construction delivery.
    • Support review and close‑out of construction evidence (e.g., Inspection Test Plan adherence), handover information and completion documentation required to demonstrate compliant delivery.
    • Support the identification and resolution of technical queries, non‑conformances, change items and field engineering issues.
  • Commercial, Contract and Performance Management
    • Support the management of construction delivery performance against agreed scope, programme, cost, quality and productivity expectations.
    • Work with commercial and project controls teams to report progress, forecast positions, emerging pressures and delivery implications.
    • Support contract and commercial management activities, including change control, early warnings, compensation events and contractor performance reviews where applicable.
    • Provide clear input to reporting, governance forums and decision‑making processes, ensuring delivery risks and commercial implications are understood.
  • Interface and Stakeholder Leadership
    • Act as a key interface between construction delivery, project management, engineering, commercial, project controls, health and safety, quality, contractors and client stakeholders.
    • Lead and support the management of construction interfaces across assigned packages, work areas or delivery scopes.
    • Build effective working relationships with contractors, clients, internal teams and delivery partners to support collaborative and timely delivery.
    • Maintain clear and timely communication across relevant stakeholders, ensuring construction activity is understood, coordinated and appropriately reported.
  • Team Development and Continuous Improvement
    • Contribute to the development of delivery teams through coaching, knowledge sharing and role‑modelling of Arcadis behaviours.
    • Capture and apply lessons learned to improve construction delivery performance, safety, productivity and assurance outcomes.
    • Promote a delivery culture focused on safe execution, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and reliable delivery performance.
    • Support the development of scalable construction delivery capability within the Nuclear business, strengthening Arcadis’ position in construction management services across major nuclear and infrastructure programmes.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent experience in construction management, engineering, project management or a related discipline.
  • Experience in construction delivery, construction management, project management or site coordination within complex infrastructure, energy, engineering or regulated environments.
  • Good understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, site coordination, short‑term planning and safe systems of work.
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations, construction safety management and safe delivery in complex project environments.
  • Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, delivery partners or multidisciplinary project teams to support agreed safety, quality, programme and delivery outcomes.
  • Ability to coordinate defined construction packages, site areas or technical interfaces across construction, engineering, commercial, project controls, health and safety and quality teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to identify, evidence and escalate construction risks, constraints, interface issues and delivery blockers through clear reporting.
  • Working knowledge of project governance, change control, performance reporting and cost or schedule management.
  • Awareness of contract and commercial management activities, preferably under NEC ECC or a similar construction contract environment.
