We are looking for an experienced and proactive Project Manager to lead the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority’s flagship Big Clean initiative—a Mayoral Manifesto commitment to improve public spaces and strengthen community pride across the region. You’ll drive high‑impact projects from concept to completion, working with partners across criminal justice agencies, local authorities, and communities to deliver real, visible change.

Applications must be accompanied by a cover letter to detail how you meet the essential criteria for the role (please see role profile attached). Please note, all applications should be made directly via our careers portal.

Interviews will be held Thursday 19th February.

Please note: South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority does not hold a sponsorship licence and cannot provide Skilled Worker sponsorship for any roles advertised.

Please note: This vacancy may close earlier than the advertised closing date if we receive a high volume of applications. We encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.

About the role

The Project Manager plays a key role in delivering the Big Clean programme, overseeing multiple projects and workstreams designed to tackle graffiti, littering and fly‑tipping across South Yorkshire.

You will

  • Manage the full lifecycle of each project, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the required standards of quality, safety and governance.
  • Work collaboratively with partners including Local Authorities, the Probation Service, Police, community groups and internal teams.
  • Ensure successful delivery, robust reporting, effective problem‑solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee consultation processes, communications activity, data analysis, financial monitoring and independent evaluation of the initiative.
  • Support policy development, tender processes and funding bids.

You will be part of a collaborative team that works with Local Authorities, South Yorkshire Police, Community Safety Partnerships, Youth Justice Services and the voluntary sector to deliver a whole system approach to support services.

About you

You will be a confident, organised and motivated professional with a strong track record in project management and stakeholder engagement. You can balance multiple priorities, communicate clearly with a range of audiences, and navigate complex issues with sound judgement. You will be comfortable working proactively, solving problems, organising resources and ensuring governance requirements are met.

You’ll thrive in a collaborative environment and be committed to improving outcomes for communities across South Yorkshire.
