An exciting opportunity for an experienced construction Project Manager to work within Defence working with our long-term Client. Reporting to the Contract Lead you will be fully site based, with day-to-day Client interface to oversee construction projects across the Estates. The role will offer you the opportunity to be involved in multiple projects with a rolling portfolio value. This is a one-year contract which may be extended subject to the requirements of the project.
You will work within a collaborative team to share knowledge, experience and process to meet the demands of the in-year spend.

- Communicating to employees and contractors of the importance of meeting customer requirements including references to statutory and internal regulatory procedures.
- Monitor daily work activities and reporting progress and issues of concern to the Construction Manager.
- Monitor onsite interfaces to alleviate both health and safety risks as well as unnecessary financial costs and delays to the project.
- Review, comment and respond to contractor programmes.
- Process change management.
- Assist in raising any instructions to contractor.
- Attend daily and weekly safety meetings.
- Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
- Maintain an accurately detailed daily site diary of site conditions, progress and the resources available to undertake the work activities throughout the construction phase.
- Input to Weekly Reports which include Site Safety Inspections, Quality Control, Test Inspection Plans, Defect Notices.
- Assist with leading and managing the project management team.
- Visible commitment to safety improvement programmes and follows up accidents and injuries.
- Establish lines of communication and reporting procedures with the client and within the design team.
- Assist with site surveys, site investigation, site evaluation etc.
- Chair progress, co-ordination and project meetings throughout the contract period.
- Prepare regular reports to Clients on all aspects of the project inspection, scheduling and acceptance of works required.
- Actively participate in the project hand over process and check that appropriate documental evidence is provided to the Construction Manager.
Qualifications
- Ideally chartered CIOB.
- Hold an appropriate qualification in a relevant engineering discipline; ONCNC/HND or equivalent.
- 5-10+ years experience working with Principal Contractors.
- SMSTS, CSCS.
- Willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role.
- Must be able to articulate technical complexities and have very good communication skills.
- Able to chair meetings and direct the work to meet the programme.
- Able to engage within the project teams to influence project outcome across a number of interlinking projects.
- Needs an excellent understanding of HSAWA, CDM, risk assessments, safety systems, safety cases and Safe Systems of Work.
- The ability to lead a series of projects and client relationships, with limited support.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office.
