Job description

A highly regarded, independent construction consultancy is currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their growing Birmingham team. This opportunity would suit a Senior Project Manager who is already operating with a high level of autonomy and is now looking for a role where performance is recognised and progression is genuinely accelerated. The successful Senior Project Manager will play a key role in delivering projects, developing client relationships, and supporting the continued growth of the Birmingham office.

This consultancy is known for its collaborative culture, commercial awareness and close working relationships with clients. With the Birmingham office continuing to expand, there is a clear and achievable opportunity for the appointed Senior Project Manager to progress quickly into an Associate Director position.

The Senior Project Manager Role

The appointed Senior Project Manager will take responsibility for leading projects from early instruction through to completion, working closely with Directors and Associates. Projects span a range of sectors and are delivered for repeat clients, requiring a Senior Project Manager who can combine strong technical delivery with client-facing confidence.

In addition to project delivery, the Senior Project Manager will play an active role in supporting junior team members and helping to grow client accounts within the region.

Duties of the Senior Project Manager to include:
  • Leading the day‑to‑day delivery of projects as the appointed Senior Project Manager
  • Managing projects from feasibility, design and procurement through construction and handover
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients, building long‑term relationships
  • Coordinating and leading multi‑disciplinary consultant teams
  • Overseeing project programmes, risk registers and reporting requirements
  • Chairing project, design team and site meetings
  • Providing strategic input on procurement routes and delivery strategies
  • Supporting the development and mentoring of Project Managers and junior staff
  • Representing the Birmingham office in client meetings and internal forums

The successful Senior Project Manager will be a confident, commercially aware professional who is ready to take the next step. The Senior Project Manager will ideally demonstrate:

  • Proven experience working as a Senior Project Manager within a construction consultancy
  • Strong client‑facing skills and experience managing projects independently
  • A solid understanding of construction processes and project delivery
  • The ability to lead teams and manage multiple workstreams
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem‑solving
  • Interest in progression into an Associate Director role in the near term
  • Working towards, or already holding, a professional qualification such as RICS or APM
