Project Manager - Structural Steel Installation

Location: Hybrid (UK-wide projects)
Salary: 70,000 + Company Car & Fuel Card

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in structural steel installation or heavy construction? Do you thrive on leading complex projects from concept to completion delivering safely, on time, and within budget?

About the Role

Reporting directly to the UK Construction Director, you'll take full ownership of assigned structural steel projects, managing programmes, budgets, subcontractors, and teams to ensure safe and successful delivery.

You'll be the driving force behind planning, coordination, and execution, overseeing everything from pre-construction planning and contract management to on-site installation and client liaison.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of structural steel installation projects.
  • Lead project teams to meet key milestones and programme deadlines.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, engineers, and internal teams to ensure full project alignment.
  • Manage contracts, schedules, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Oversee budgets, costs, and financial forecasting in partnership with QS.
  • Lead site meetings and report progress internally and to clients.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance across all sites.
  • Drive quality assurance and ensure works meet all technical specifications.
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers to achieve agreed timelines and quality standards.
  • Resolve technical challenges effectively and maintain thorough project documentation.
About You

You're a hands-on leader who combines technical expertise with exceptional organisational and communication skills. You know how to motivate teams, manage multiple priorities, and maintain excellent client relationships.

You’ll also bring:
  • 5+ years' experience as a Project Manager in structural steel, steel erection, or heavy construction.
  • Strong knowledge of structural drawings, erection plans, and steel construction methods.
  • Proficiency in project planning tools (e.g., Asta Project, Primavera P6).
  • Experience in contract administration and financial control.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office and Trimble / Trimble Connect.
  • CSCS / SMSTS certification (UK) or equivalent.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
Desirable:
  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
  • Familiarity with BIM and Tekla Structures.
  • Experience in crane lifts and heavy steel logistics planning.
