Job description

At Filtronic, we design and manufacture world‑class RF, microwave and mmWave technologies that enable mission‑critical communications across some of the world’s most demanding industries.

Following continued growth, we’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our expanding Programme Management team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead technically complex engineering projects from concept through to customer delivery, working alongside highly skilled engineering, manufacturing and commercial teams.

If you enjoy bringing multidisciplinary teams together, solving complex challenges and delivering projects that make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role

Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, you’ll take responsibility for planning, coordinating and delivering multiple engineering projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you’ll provide clear leadership throughout the product lifecycle whilst managing project risks, schedules, resources and commercial performance.

The successful candidate will bring practical experience of delivering complex hardware products into regulated industries such as aerospace, defence, automotive, or space, with a strong understanding of the challenges associated with engineering development, manufacturing readiness, compliance, and customer acceptance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage engineering projects throughout the full product lifecycle (KO, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR etc).
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules and milestones.
  • Deliver projects to agreed scope, budget, quality and timescales.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement and Quality.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Produce regular project reports, dashboards and performance metrics.
  • Support customer meetings, programme reviews and technical discussions.
  • Assist with project budgeting, forecasting and financial tracking.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective communication across all project teams.

  • Experience coordinating cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and Supply Chain.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of recognised project management methodologies.
  • Experience using project management software such as Microsoft Project, Jira or similar.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Desirable
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Science or a related discipline.
  • Background in manufacturing engineering, or have worked closely with NPI/Production teams.
  • APMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualification.
  • Experience within the Space, Defence, Satellite Communications or Electronics sectors.
  • An appreciation of RF, microwave or electronic technologies.
Benefits include
  • 37.5 hour working week
