Project Manager - Permanent - Chemicals - Salary + Benefits - Essex

Our leading top tier COMAH regulated client is seeking a mechanically bias Project Manager to join their organisation on a permanent staff basis. You will play key part of the engineering team working closely with the site operations team to drive the way forward on improvement projects. You will deliver projects that will assist in driving the culture for change, development and improvement to ensure the site is 'world class'.

Manage multiple projects and coordinate selection and management of engineering contractors as well as liaising with internal functions to achieve successful execution of the projects to agreed time, cost and quality targets.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Manage multiple projects from start to finish (particular focus on management of the construction phase)
  • Manage multi-discipline projects (mechanical. EC&I, civil, structural)
  • Complete project management tasks to ensure projects and other work packages are completed safely, on-time, on-budget and to an acceptable quality standard
  • Manage CIPS trades
  • Produce scopes of work and project plans in line with the requirements of Operations and the Engineering team
  • Develop capital funding requests
  • Manage scopes, timescales and financial aspects of capital projects
  • Generate tracking reports and deliver updates to peers and the leadership team on a regular basis
  • Assist in the development of scopes, costs and plans for plant engineering changes and shutdown/turnaround activities
  • Manage a programme of empty, clean, make safe and demolish redundant plant, equipment and buildings
  • Plan and manage turnaround/shutdown activities which typically involve larger maintenance tasks and tie-in of new capital projects
  • To supervise construction/dismantling work from start to completion:
  • identify the work, identify any safety implications and incorporate suitable mitigation into the work, identify if other precautions are necessary, e.g. if a Management of Change form is required, plan the work as appropriate, prepare the work as appropriate, ensure materials and services are in place to support the work.
  • Select appropriate personnel to carry out the work, schedule the work for action, submit copies of work orders to Operations for overnight preparation, clearly identify permit requirements and other safety or technical issues, supervise the work, check and monitor the work, ensure the work is satisfactorily completed, update records to ensure job traceability and accurate records
  • Act as Client defined in CDM regulations. Suitably qualified to perform role of Client.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Recognised Project Management Qualification
  • Project leadership experience in chemical/petrochemical environment, COMAH or similar industries
  • Demonstrable experience of new installations and cut & carve projects
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current legislation relevant to construction activities
  • Demonstrable experience of managing contract based employees
  • Demonstrable experience working in Top Tier COMAH environment
  • CDM awareness / IOSH managing Safely / NEBOSH General
