Description
The Project Manager will support the delivery of a wide range of projects in the cell and gene therapy field and related technologies, working with multiple Collaborators across industry, academia, government, and funding bodies. Based within a multidisciplinary delivery team, the Project Manager will play a central role in advancing corporate services and access strategy projects, ensuring coordinated delivery that supports strategic goals and organisational milestones.
The Project Manager will also support the planning and delivery of events, working with the internal Marketing and Communications team and a wide range of external stakeholders to ensure their success.
The Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult Edinburgh office and laboratories have a focus on projects aligned with the fundamental principles of 'universal design' which aim to increase accessibility to laboratory and office environments for everyone irrespective of physical ability.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of a variety of corporate services, and adoption projects within the CGT Catapult programme management portfolio, as required through detailed project coordination, planning, problem solving, and collaborative coordinated teamwork to deliver on milestones to time, quality, scope, and budget
- Support the Senior Programme Manager, Project Sponsor, and Project Leads in the management of the assigned projects including oversight and support for budgets, project planning, risk and issue management, and the communication of roles and responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the projects
- Support day-to-day operational aspects of the projects and providing the necessary governance and administrative support
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of project plans and all relevant workstreams, including identifying and managing dependencies and risks and escalating to the Programme Manager, Project Sponsor and/or Project Lead where appropriate
- Work with the senior team members to track key milestones and performance indicators against which progress can be measured and effectively communicated
- Monitor project budgets, milestones and payments, providing updates and raising concerns as needed
- Assist with the planning and delivery of events linked to projects and organisational objectives
Experience
- Experience working in a relevant field such as pharmaceuticals, life sciences, healthcare, or manufacturing (CROs, CDMOs, etc.), including experience in project coordination or project management roles
- Experience managing projects using recognised project management methodology e.g. PRINCE2, PMP
- Experience of managing multidisciplinary project teams
- Experience of managing advanced therapy medicinal products projects is advantageous but not required
- Demonstrable experience of stakeholder management, budget management, and risk management
- Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and remote meeting tools such as MS Teams etc

- Knowledge of Project Management tools e.g. Gantt charts; risk and issue logs; communication plans
- Good understanding and application of Project Management principles, concepts, practices and standards
- A positive attitude towards learning, personal and professional development. Keeps up to date with professional knowledge, expertise, and best practice
- Good communication skills, to enable effective engagement with technical and non-technical stakeholders, with the ability to quickly establish credibility and build rapport and trust
- Proven ability to engage constructively with colleagues at all levels across different departments to deliver objectives and to respond to a wide range of customer and management needs
- Results driven, able to work within areas of ambiguity, takes smart risks where appropriate

Education / Qualifications
- Degree in biological sciences or related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Formal project management qualification (Prince2 Practitioner or PMP) is desirable but not required
