Job Description:
  • The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating and managing IT projects and related procurements while ensuring alignment with agency objectives.
  • This role involves collaboration with vendors, consultants, and internal IT and business teams to achieve project goals within established timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • The candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, oversee project execution, and ensure adherence to project management best practices and governance requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate vendors, consultants, and internal teams in the execution of IT projects and procurements.
  • Oversee the development of proposals, statements of work, requirements, and RFP responses.
  • Assist in team development, holding teams accountable for commitments and removing roadblocks.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary teams in developing plans, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage day-to-day project activities and ensure consistent progress toward milestones.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including executive and business management, vendors, project sponsors, and technology leadership.
  • Establish project goals consistent with technical and organizational strategies.
  • Track and communicate project progress, costs, and risks to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with technology leads and solution architects to integrate best practices.
  • Drive consistent project delivery throughout the entire lifecycle—from procurement to transition to operations.
  • Monitor third-party vendor performance and define progress metrics.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, task lists, schedules, and risk registers.
  • Ensure adherence to project management practices and governance standards.
  • Foster a positive project culture and demonstrate strong emotional intelligence.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualification And Education:

  • PMP Certification (Project Management Professional) required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Visio, and Office applications required.
  • Experience with Project Management Office methodologies preferred.
  • Experience with VITA’s Commonwealth Technology Portfolio (CTP) system and ECOS process preferred.
  • Familiarity with Commonwealth IT procurement processes (RFP, Statewide Contract, and Client SOW) preferred.
