Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Project Manager at its Devonport Royal Dockyard site in Plymouth to lead major nuclear infrastructure work packages from planning through to delivery, ensuring safety, efficiency and programme alignment.

The role requires delivery experience in engineering or infrastructure, strong planning and cost control, and the ability to work within governance frameworks. Security clearance (SC) is required for this position.

• APM Fundamentals qualification (or equivalent project management foundation qualification).

The role

As a Project Manager, you’ll play a key role in the successful delivery of work packages within a major nuclear infrastructure programme at Devonport. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you’ll lead projects from planning through to delivery, ensuring objectives are achieved safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements.

Day-to-day, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to contribute to nationally important infrastructure that supports the UK's defence capabilities while developing your career within a highly complex and rewarding project environment. You’ll gain exposure to large-scale engineering programmes, collaborate with experienced professionals, and help drive projects that make a real difference.

• Leading the delivery of project work packages to agreed scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.
• Managing project plans, budgets, forecasts, risks and performance reporting.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Project Manager

• Experience delivering projects within engineering, infrastructure, construction or similarly complex technical environments.
• Knowledge of core project management disciplines including planning, scheduling, reporting and cost control.
• Experience managing project risks, issues and stakeholder relationships.
• Strong organisational, communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work within structured governance frameworks and project controls environments.

Qualifications for the Project Manager

Essential:

• APM Fundamentals qualification (or equivalent project management foundation qualification).

Desirable:

• Further project management accreditation or progression towards professional project management status.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
