Job summary

Anglian Water @one Alliance is seeking a Project Manager to oversee multiple schemes within AMP8. You will drive CDM compliance, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure delivery on time, budget, and quality while maintaining safety and environmental standards.

With experience in the water sector, you’ll manage stakeholders, translate strategy into actions, and work within a commercial framework to deliver robust project outcomes across the alliance.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in the water industry and strong knowledge of Health & Safety, drinking water standards, and CDM regulations.
• IOSH qualification, APMP preferred, ability to challenge stakeholders with clear communication and relationship-building.
• Experience within a commercial framework and knowledge of NEC Option C contracts for quick, business-focused decisions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure CDM compliance of each scheme through the TOTEX Delivery Process and audits.
• Lead a high-performing project team from Engineers to Commercial staff.
• Translate programme strategy into actual outcomes and optimise resource usage.
• Manage full project lifecycle from scope to handover and warranty issues.
• Collaborate with Commercial and Planning to maintain cost/resource forecasts.
• Oversee delivery of promoted solutions to meet safety, cost, and time targets.
• Foster collaboration across the @one Alliance and partner organisations.

Overview

Here within the Anglian Water @one Alliance we are a fully collaborative organisation made up of eight partner companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO) and our extended supply chain, working together to deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme. We are gearing up for our most exciting and challenging Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP 8, which will see us deliver a programme of work larger than we’ve ever delivered before. What will you be doing as our new Project Manager?

As our new Project Manager, you’ll manage a team and oversee the development of solutions to ensure multiple projects are completed on time, to the required quality, safety, and environmental standards. You’ll be responsible for projects throughout their lifecycles, ensuring the team handles operational needs and conflicts to arrive at win‑win solutions for all concerned.

Key responsibilities

• Assure CDM compliance of each scheme through the TOTEX Delivery Process and a series of audits, checks, and peer reviews to champion a Zero‑Harm culture.
• Create and maintain a high‑performing team culture, empowering reports from Engineers to Commercial staff to think creatively and resolve issues.
• Translate programme‑level strategy into actual outcomes, ensuring team members are utilised correctly and understand their role in achieving success.
• Accountable for the full project lifecycle from receipt of need through scoping, construction, project handover, formal sign‑off, and any warranty issues that arise post‑handover.
• Work closely with Commercial and Planning teams to maintain accurate cost and resource forecasts, mitigating and escalating issues to the Integrated Projects Leader for resolution.
• Oversee teams’ promoted solutions to ensure they are safe, commercially viable, and meet project requirements while being fit for purpose.
• Ensure each project meets required deliverables and key milestones such as Project Rehearsal and Fit for Assembly.
• Create an open, approachable, and visible team environment that engages across the @one Alliance and partner organisations to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.

A little bit about your skills, experience, and behaviours

Possessing recent experience in the water industry, you’ll have excellent knowledge of Health & Safety, drinking water standards, and CDM regulations, complemented by an IOSH qualification. Accustomed to managing multiple projects and ideally holding an APMP qualification, you’ll be comfortable challenging stakeholders with strong communication and relationship‑building skills. Your experience within a commercial framework and knowledge of NEC Option C contracts will enable you to make decisions quickly for the best of the business. With a track record of managing teams in a performance‑driven environment, you’ll step away from detail, work strategically when required, and delegate tasks with trust and empowerment.
