We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join NHS Supply Chain’s major transformation programme.
Every day you will …
- Be responsible for the effective delivery of your project(s), working closely with a programme manager and business owner. You will ensure the project objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints.
- Work in collaboration with the service providers across NHS Supply Chain to ensure effective management and execution of your projects to deliver against elements of NHS Supply Chain’s modernisation programme.
- Lead and manage projects using agile and waterfall methodologies

We serve every NHS Trust and operate a national network of distribution centres, managing relationships with more than a thousand suppliers and delivering more than 8,000,000 orders each year to more than 17,000 locations. Doing all of this on behalf of the NHS gives NHS staff more time to focus on their main priority of providing excellent patient care.
What skills will help you thrive in this role?
- Experience in managing low complexity projects and/or projects within a broader programme
- Matrix management experience of project delivery teams
- A good understanding of project management methodologies (Waterfall / Agile) and change management principles
- Experience in project cost management across multiple delivery partners
- Relevant PPM qualification (e.g. APM, Prince 2) or equivalent level of experience
- Prior experience in managing change projects at all stages, from business analysis and requirement gathering through to execution and post go-live evaluation
- Verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to engage with technical and non-technical teams
- Proven stakeholder management skills
- Experience in managing third-party vendors (Desirable)
- Experience and knowledge of the healthcare sector, either public or private (Desirable)
- Good understanding of Logistics and Supply Chain organisations (Desirable)
- Relevant business change qualification (e.g. Prosci, ADKAR) or equivalent level of experience (Desirable)
