The Project Manager for Leica Biosystems is responsible for the successful on time delivery of complex programmes and projects working with broad cross-functional and multi-site teams. This position is part of the Programme Management Office located in Newcastleand will be on site. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

You will be a part of the Programme Management Officeand be responsible for working with key partners to drive project on time delivery, identify risks and issues, implement counter measures and ensure task completion by prioritising and reaching compromise with team members and functional managers to make critical decisions to ensure project success. This role shall be based onsite at Newcastle upon Tyne

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead on-time delivery of projects within agreed scope for key site and R & D programmes/projects.
  • Partner with cross functional project teams to provide solutions to support project delivery.
  • Provide leadership to project teams to create and deliver robust and detailed project plans.
  • Identify and monitoring project activities to achieve required delivery and quality through:
  • Effective review of project proposals and plans; conferring with management and development of project objectives with support as required.
  • Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements and assigning personnel to phases and activities.
  • Ensure clear alignment and delivery of project stream leads.
  • Responsible for clear and concise reporting and escalation to project sponsor of project progress, risks, countermeasures and issues.
  • Deploy standard work for site project management using Danaher Business System principles to provide reliable and consistent delivery of required results.
  • Provide guidance & feedback to core team to increase overall project management & delivery capabilities.
  • Ensure Quality, Regulatory and Environmental, Health and Safety Policies are integrated into site project standard work

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Educated to BSc level in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable and relevant experience of successful delivery of multifunctional programmes including new product delivery and manufacturing operations, or people management experience.
  • Relevant experience of working within medical device (or equivalent) organisation with a regulatory framework is preferred.
  • Experience of using Project management tools including MS project, excel, power point, SharePoint, team sites, SmartSheet, Jira or Trello.
  • PMP/Prince2 certification is preferred.
  • Experience with Class II or III medical product development is preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal/written/presentation/relationship building)
  • High levels of initiative, self‑motivation and energy.
  • Financial/commercial Awareness.
  • Able to spot complexity and understand approaches to manage it.
  • Able to form effective and lasting networks with colleagues across functions.
  • Rapid learning ability to deal with complex and novel situations.
