Job summary

Exolum is seeking a Project Manager to drive capital engineering projects from concept through to commissioning and handover. The role covers developing scopes, budgets and schedules, with accountability for costs and reporting.

Travel to UK sites and effective stakeholder communication are essential to successful delivery. Experience in oil, fuel storage or energy infrastructure is preferred, with a strong grasp of NEC contracts and contract administration.

Qualifications

We have exclusively partnered with an industry leading fuel storage and distribution business to recruit a Project Manager on a permanent basis.

My client are a global, forward thinking, inclusive employer who are at the forefront of their industry and are going through a real period of growth. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of engineering/construction projects from initial concept through to commissioning, completion and handover.

The role is based near Manchester, offering hybrid working with travel to other UK sites as required.

Overview of the Project Manager role:

• Deliver capital engineering projects from initial concept through to commissioning, completion and asset handover.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules and business cases to support investment decisions.
• Manage project costs, forecasts, expenditure and financial reporting to ensure delivery within budget.
• Oversee procurement, contractors, suppliers and contract administration, including NEC contracts.
• Ensure effective stakeholder communication, project reporting and successful handover, including all required documentation and closeout activities.

Key skills required for the Project Manager role:

• Proven experience delivering engineering or construction projects from initiation through to completion.
• Ideally a background in oil & gas, fuel storage, pipelines, petrochemicals, energy infrastructure or a similar major hazard industry.
• Knowledge of COMAH regulations and pipeline integrity would be advantageous.
• Confident managing contractors, suppliers, consultants and projects across multiple sites.
• Strong commercial awareness, ideally with experience managing NEC contracts and project expenditure.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across UK sites is essential.
