Job summary

Balvac invites applications for an experienced Project Manager to lead high‑profile structural repair and refurbishment projects across the UK. You will manage teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

You will drive project controls, reporting, risk management and continuous improvement, embedding Lean principles and a strong safety culture while building lasting client relationships and delivering value.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing projects in the construction sector.
  • Strong leadership and communication with teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and delivery of multiple priorities.
  • Solid understanding of cost management and project controls.
  • Commitment to safety, sustainability and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and build long-term partnerships.
  • Familiarity with Lean Construction principles is a plus.
  • APMP or equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • CSCS card held is required.
  • Relevant technical qualification is advantageous.

  • Keep accurate construction records, O&M manuals and as-built drawings.
  • Report progress, risks and issues to senior management.

About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Balvac business in a UK-wide role. This position will support projects across the UK, with location dependent on works and operational requirements.

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing and successfully delivering projects within the business, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards of time, cost and quality. You will play a key role in managing customer relationships, exceeding expectations, and supporting repeat business through strong delivery and professional engagement.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced construction Project Manager who is confident leading teams, managing stakeholders and driving operational excellence across complex project environments.

What you'll be doing

As Project Manager, you will:

  • Manage project teams and supply chain partners to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
  • Take responsibility for project performance, including cost management, project controls and reporting.
  • Maintain a strong focus on Zero Harm by promoting safe behaviours, ensuring compliance with safety standards and leading by example.
  • Build and maintain effective customer relationships throughout project delivery, supporting change management, decision making and expectation management.
  • Ensure company procedures, policies and business management systems are followed by all relevant teams.
  • Manage external consultants, including design partners, to support successful project delivery and drive value for customers.
  • Maintain accurate records throughout the project lifecycle, including construction records, O&M manuals and as-built drawings.
  • Report regularly to senior management on project progress, risks and key issues.
  • Drive operational excellence through robust planning, risk management, project controls and continuous improvement.
  • Promote Lean principles and visual daily management to improve productivity, performance and safety.
  • Support sustainability objectives by engaging with customers and promoting sustainable solutions across operations.
  • Anticipate and resolve project challenges, particularly around engineering, construction and delivery requirements.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for someone with:

  • Previous project management experience within the construction sector.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead, influence and communicate effectively with teams, customers and stakeholders.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage operational delivery across multiple priorities.
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness, with experience managing project performance and delivering against targets.
  • A proactive approach to safety, sustainability and continuous improvement.
  • Confidence in managing customer relationships and supporting positive long-term partnerships.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, supply chain partners, consultants and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of Lean Construction principles would be desirable.
  • A relevant professional qualification, such as APMP, would be desirable.
  • A relevant technical qualification would be advantageous.
  • An appropriate and valid CSCS card.
