Murphy is recruiting a Project Manager to join the Energy Team on the Western Isles HVDC Link Project. The role emphasises safe, on-time delivery within budget and strong client and stakeholder engagement.

You will lead multi-front construction activities, manage resources, and oversee cost control while reporting to senior leadership. Murphy offers a comprehensive benefits package and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering major infrastructure, power transmission, cable or HVDC projects safely, on time and within budget.
• Commitment to world-class health, safety and environmental performance.
• Ability to manage multiple work fronts across extensive linear construction corridors.
• Experience managing relationships with clients, regulators, landowners, utilities, local authorities and communities.
• Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Fully accountable for project delivery, ensuring safety, timeliness and budget.
• Set the overall standard on projects/contracts and ensure requirements are delivered.
• Identify issues and resolve them in a controlled and timely manner.
• Ensure contract programmes are planned, reviewed and delivered.
• Line management of Site Managers and Section Managers.
• Maintain client relationships and provide updates to stakeholders on progress.
• Ensure resources and materials are in place to support operating plans.
• Escalate operational issues to the Project Director as needed.
• Oversee commercial activities including gross margin and cost control.

Murphy is recruiting for a Project Manager to work with the Energy Team on the Western Isles HVDC Link Project.

A day in the life of a Murphy Project Manager:

• To be fully accountable for the delivery of the projects, ensuring it is completed safely, on time, in accordance with the contract requirements and to budget.
• Sets the overall standard on the projects/contract.
• Ensure the project requirements are identified and delivered.
• Identify issues and ensure they are resolved in a controlled and timely manner.
• To ensure contract programmes are planned, reviewed, and delivered.
• Line management of Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers and Section Managers.
• Responsible for effective client relationship management, collaborative approach and providing updates to internal and external stakeholders on project/contract progress.
• Ensures operating plans are in place to ensure sufficient resources and materials are in place.
• Will be expected to resolve most operational issues with any business-critical issues referred to the Project Director.
• Responsible for all commercial activities associated with the project including the delivery of the gross margin, management of cost control and other key commercial and financial metrics.
• Overall performance management of subcontractors of the gross margin, management of cost control and other key commercial and financial metrics.

• Ability to manage multiple work fronts simultaneously across extensive linear construction corridors
• Experience managing relationships with clients, regulators, landowners, utilities, local authorities, and community stakeholders.
• Proven experience managing project budgets, forecasting, and cost control.
• HNC / HND or NVQ Level 5 (or Degree)
