Job summary

Galliford Try Ltd in Havant is seeking a Project Manager to join our Environment Business Division. You will lead the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, ensuring performance against programme and budget.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the water sector, with strong communication and organisational skills. You will work collaboratively with various teams and manage multiple stakeholders, ensuring high standards of safety and compliance.

Job description

Project Manager

Havant, Hampshire - occasional travel to project locations will be required, with flexibility to work across different sites as needed.

We’re looking for a Project Manager to join our Environment Business Division, supporting the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects within the Southern Water Framework.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering multi‑disciplinary civil engineering projects, helping to achieve positive outcomes across programme, cost, safety, and quality.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Lead and support the delivery of projects, ensuring performance against programme, budget, and agreed KPIs
  • Take ownership of project commercial performance, with support where needed
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety (including CDM), and environmental compliance through our Business Management Systems (BMS)
  • Manage, support and develop project teams, setting clear expectations and enabling success
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Support NEC contract administration, including managing change, variations, and final accounts
  • Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure safe delivery
  • Contribute to project reporting, financial tracking, and programme reviews
  • Work collaboratively with design, procurement, and construction teams
  • Support procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services
  • Work with planners to maintain project programmes and meet key milestones
  • Ensure effective project closeout, including testing and commissioning, O&M manuals, and as‑built documentation
About you:
  • HND, BEng, NVQ, or equivalent qualification, or relevant practical experience
  • Experience in the water or wastewater sector, or similar infrastructure environments
  • Awareness of NEC contracts and commercial management principles
  • SMSTS (or IOSH equivalent) and CSCS card (desirable)
  • Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
  • A proactive, collaborative, and solution‑focused approach
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to manage a range of priorities in a dynamic environment
