Job description

Are you an accomplished Construction Project Manager looking to play a leading role on one of London's most prestigious landmark developments? We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the planning, engineering, coordination and delivery of a complex structural and scaffolding package on a nationally significant Grade I Listed structure.


This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of structural engineering, project management, temporary works and heritage conservation, managing a technically demanding programme where engineering excellence must be balanced with the preservation of historic fabric.


Reporting to senior project leadership, you will take ownership of the safe and successful delivery of extensive temporary works schemes, acting as the key interface between clients, heritage stakeholders, consultants and specialist contractors. You will ensure that engineering, programme, commercial and conservation objectives are fully aligned throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery


  • Lead the planning, management and delivery of complex temporary works and structural packages from concept through to completion.

  • Develop and implement project delivery strategies, ensuring safety, quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved.

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams across engineering, design, construction and heritage disciplines.

  • Monitor project progress and manage delivery risks, ensuring milestones and critical programme dates are maintained.

  • Prepare and present project reports, technical updates and programme reviews to senior stakeholders.


Engineering & Temporary Works Management


  • Provide engineering leadership for the development and delivery of temporary works solutions, including:

    • Complex scaffolding structures

    • Temporary steel structures

    • Foundations and support systems

    • Access and protection schemes



  • Review and challenge engineering designs to ensure technical robustness, buildability and compliance.

  • Ensure all temporary works are developed and delivered in accordance with recognised industry standards and procedures.

  • Oversee design coordination between consultants, temporary works designers and construction teams.


Heritage & Conservation


  • Ensure all engineering and construction activities are sympathetic to the historic significance and fabric of the structure.

  • Work collaboratively with conservation specialists to minimise impacts on heritage assets.

  • Support the development of innovative engineering solutions that balance conservation requirements with construction practicality.

  • Maintain compliance with heritage and conservation requirements throughout the project lifecycle.


Construction & Site Operations


  • Lead site delivery activities through detailed planning, sequencing and coordination of installation works.

  • Manage contractor and subcontractor performance across multiple work fronts.

  • Drive safe systems of work and ensure effective implementation of temporary works procedures.

  • Monitor construction quality and ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs and specifications.

  • Resolve technical and operational challenges that arise during construction.


Stakeholder Management


  • Act as the principal project interface between:

    • Clients

    • Principal Contractors

    • Design Consultants

    • Historic England Representatives

    • Conservation Officers

    • Specialist Contractors and Suppliers



  • Build strong professional relationships and facilitate collaborative decision-making.

  • Lead stakeholder meetings and ensure clear communication of technical, programme and project matters.

  • Manage approvals, reporting requirements and stakeholder expectations throughout project delivery.
