This team brings focus, insight and resource to develop, support and deliver a growing number of projects and change initiatives both within the NIHR and School of Healthcare Enterprise and Innovation.

Who are we?

The NIHR funds, enables and delivers world‑leading health and social care research that improves people’s health and well‑being and promotes economic growth. We are also a major funder of applied health research in low and middle‑income countries.

Further information can be found at: www.nihr.ac.uk. You are encouraged to review our operational priorities and watch this introductory video.

What will you be doing?

Using your experience and knowledge of project management, you will manage and deliver a range of short and medium‑term assignments, specialist projects and change initiatives.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing robust project governance, planning and management arrangements and frameworks.
  • Managing and coordinating the development, planning, and implementation of a range of projects and initiatives, using your experience and expertise in different project management methodologies.
  • Managing project resources, procurement and benefits to deliver successfully, within agreed timescales.
  • Working in a collaborative manner and maintaining an excellent standard of communication and engagement with all stakeholders so they are invested and aware of progress and key milestones.
  • Produce reports, briefings and presentations to a range of stakeholders and audiences as required.
Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a confident and adaptable project manager who enjoys working with multiple stakeholders to deliver high‑quality project management across a spectrum of different size projects. You will have a formal project management qualification alongside previous experience in a project manager role.

Other key skills are:

  • Excellent communication skills, including presenting complex information clearly and being able to build effective relationships across teams.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, working confidently with colleagues and stakeholders to influence outcomes and drive progress.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and stakeholder requirements.
  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines.
Why join us?

  • Hybrid working (typically 20% office‑based)
  • A culture of wellbeing and support – we’ve proudly been signatories of, and working to, the six standards of Mental Health at Work commitment since 2019.
  • A commitment to personal development, with opportunities for growth.
  • The role is offered at 35 hours per week, but we will consider part‑time (minimum of 28 hours). Please indicate any preference on your application.
