Overview
AtkinsRéalis Transportation Project Delivery Practice (PDP) delivers major transportation infrastructure projects, combining project management and design management across Rail and Transit, Highways, Local Transport and Defence and Nuclear sectors. The role is for a Senior Project Manager to lead project delivery, grow the project management team and progress into a Project Director role. UK based and willing to travel 2-3 days a week across the UK and Ireland.
Responsibilities
- Provide project leadership as a Senior Project Manager on large projects or as a Project Director on medium to small projects.
- Ensure projects meet business revenue, profit and cash‑flow expectations and provide accurate reporting.
- Lead the delivery team which could comprise Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Design Managers.
- Work with resource managers to undertake forward planning to ensure adequate capacity to meet requirements.
- Coordinate a common understanding of scope, programme, costs, constraints, risk and interfaces on projects.
Governance and Commercial
- Ensure compliance with Client, Business Management, Governance, Technical, HSE and Quality requirements.
- Ensure project management and contract administration through the project life cycle.
Community and Development
- Support the Project Management community to share best practice and learnings and help ensure a consistent approach to delivery.
- Mentor and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and other team members as required.
Client
- Develop and maintain client relationships to support project delivery performance and maximise potential for project extensions and new work.
- Support Regional Client Directors to shape and deliver Transportation Rail strategy for the region.
Bid Leadership
- Provide bid leadership on selective pursuits, either as Bid Manager for large projects or as Bid Director for medium to small projects. Particular focus on ensuring deliverability of the tendered works.
Qualifications
- Significant experience of Project Manager roles on large scale multidisciplinary UK infrastructure projects (£5M design fees per annum or more) from a design perspective.
- Experience of managing construction programmes and/or project management in the rail sector (e.g. with Network Rail and/or HS2 and Principal Contractors).
- Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with clients so that AtkinsRéalis commercial objectives are protected and met.
- Good understanding of design procedures, change control, checking and review requirements.
- Understand and has experience in deploying various forms of construction contract, particularly NEC3 or 4 and/or bespoke forms of contract.
- Professional membership and recognised level of Project Management competence (e.g. MAPM, MICE, PMQ, ChPP or equivalent) – desirable.
