Project Manager Chorley or Normanton

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Geotech team based in either our Chorley or Normanton Depot. We are looking for someone who embodies our values of being hardworking, grounded and proud of the work they do.

The Role

As a Geotechnical Project Manager, you will support the Geotech team throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, delivering project management functions while collaborating with managers, pre‑construction, and delivery teams. You will ensure methodologies are effectively produced, incorporated, and maintained, liaising with subcontractors, third parties, and authorities on behalf of Story Plant Ltd.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, manage, and oversee projects and business operations within your scope of responsibility.
  • Develop, maintain, and expand business opportunities in conjunction with the Senior Management Team.
  • Integrate the Geotech project team with Pre‑Construction teams and client engineers at key project stages, ensuring practical and efficient solutions.
  • Proactively identify and manage project risks and opportunities collaboratively across the project team.
  • Engage with clients, subcontractors, authorities, and third parties to ensure productive communication and project progress.
  • Promote Story Plant Ltd's services and ensure quality delivery standards are met across all Geotech activities.
  • Maintain knowledge and confidence in ground investigation practices and methodologies.
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Need
  • Proven experience in managing geotechnical and construction‑related projects.
  • Strong understanding of ground investigation, risk management, and buildable project solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Professional demeanor with a collaborative and solution‑focused approach.
  • Qualified to degree level in a geotechnical discipline
  • Full UK Driving License
  • CSCS Manager level
  • CDM regs 2015 Training
  • Computer literacy and competency in use of MS Office
  • Excellent awareness of GI techniques, procedures, BS (EN) standards and codes of practice
  • Awareness and ability to implement Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Awareness of ICE, NCE, NR contracts and the effective administration of them
  • SMSTS 5 Day Site Safety certification
  • PTS & COSS certification
