Job description

About RSK Wilding: Established in early 2020, we are a multidisciplinary team supporting innovative and strategic solutions across ecological restoration and nature recovery. We bring together an unrivaled breadth of expertise in biodiversity, restoration, sustainable land management and environmental law. We are part of the RSK Biocensus business, and we put our expertise to use as part of multi-disciplinary teams within RSK Group to help a range of clients, from large-scale developers, public authorities, utilities, all the way through to passionate landowners, to offset carbon emissions and achieve biodiversity net gain (and other natural capital benefits) through ecological restoration and rewilding across the UK. Our aim is thus to make a real difference with action on the nature and climate crisis, and to leave a better legacy for future generations.

As our Senior Consultant here at RSK Wilding, part of the RSK Group, you will advise on and assist with the work of RSK Wilding and RSK Biocensus in delivering habitats and restoration on sites/schemes, and provide specialist input to plans, design and costings for restoration schemes. You will be responsible for managing and overseeing medium-large projects and tenders from commencement to completion and close-out.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee contractors and bids to ensure quality restoration implementation and outcomes.
  • Contribution to overall team and service quality assurance and standards.
  • Quality management of projects, record keeping, and internal/external communication.
  • Liaising with team members, wider RSK Biocensus, and clients or 3rd parties (e.g. local planning authorities, habitat banks, landowners, consultants).
  • Escalating issues appropriately and presenting solutions.
  • Contributing to bids and tenders for new work.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Ideally you will hold at least a degree in a relevant discipline and are likely to have at least five years’ specific relevant experience since graduating.
  • Experience in biodiversity net gain, habitat restoration and nature-based solutions is essential and experience in a field such as agriculture, forestry or environmental landscaping would be an advantage.
  • A sound background across construction, habitat management or restoration, with ECoW work or delivery supervision on site, as well as previous or current experience of running or being part of NEC, JCT or other contracts management delivery on sites would be a real advantage.
  • A sound understanding of statutory and policy requirements (wildlife legislation, planning consent processes, protected species licences), ecological commitments (as set out relevant plans and documents), planning consents, and design/contract‑specific requirements (works information or work instructions and contractual obligations) would be most welcomed.
  • A Full UK Driving licence and use of own vehicle will be required for this role.
  • The ability to communicate appropriate ecological information to ecologists and non-ecologists in a way that is clear, concise and constructive.
  • Being able to promote a culture of honesty and equity and be someone who leads by example on site.
  • Problem solving, self‑motivated and can show initiative.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Willing to adapt and learn.
  • Present solutions – not issues.
  • Willing to contribute to the team and “get stuck in”.
Benefits
  • Company Life assurance.
  • A flexible benefits programme including the option to buy additional holidays and private health care.
  • Regular training and career development (CPD).
  • Contributed pension scheme.
  • Discounted Gym Memberships.
  • Competitive salary between £33,500‑£45,000 (depending on experience).
