Job description
About the Company

This well‑established main contractor specialises in commercial interior fit‑out and refurbishment, delivering high‑quality workplace environments across the Home Counties and London, with a strong presence in Cambridge. They are known for their collaborative, accountable culture — embracing the philosophy: work hard, enjoy it, and build teams, not just projects. With a strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and people development, this business offers a solid platform for career growth and meaningful project delivery.

About the Role

Reporting into the operations leadership team, you will take ownership of end‑to‑end project delivery for commercial fit‑out schemes based in the Cambridge region. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the planning, execution, and close‑out of interior fit‑out contracts (Cat A, Cat B, and refurbishments) from mobilisation through to hand‑over and defects.
  • Managing site teams, subcontractors, supply chain partners, and consultants to ensure safety, quality, programme, and cost targets are met.
  • Acting as the primary client interface, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and controlling project budgets, risks, and change orders, ensuring accurate reporting and financial discipline.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sustainability requirements, while supporting the company's net‑zero and social‑value goals.
  • Driving continuous improvement and implementing best‑practice delivery methods across the regional team.
Rewards & Benefits
  • Highly competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Based in Cambridge, offering the opportunity to lead regional projects with the backing of a strong national business.
  • Professional development and training opportunities, including support for chartership or advanced qualifications.
  • Exposure to high‑profile commercial fit‑out schemes, with full autonomy to lead delivery.
  • Supportive, inclusive culture that values teamwork, personal growth, and wellbeing.
  • Flexible working model: one day per week working from home, combined with site and office time.
  • Company‑wide commitment to sustainability, safety, and social responsibility.
Requirements
  • Proven project management experience in commercial interior fit‑out or refurbishment (ideally within workplace, R&D, life sciences, or TMT sectors).
  • Strong record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership in construction management, building services, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate teams and build strong client relationships.
  • Sound financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and change control.
  • Thorough understanding of health & safety standards and sustainability best practices (BREEAM, WELL, or LEED advantageous).
  • Self‑motivated, organised, and resilient, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally for site visits.
