Sizewell C is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for at least 60 years.

The Opportunity

Get ready to launch your career with our customised 2 year training programme! You will rotate through exciting placements that are designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed.

You will learn from our experts, gain valuable experience, build your confidence and have the support of a career line manager and placement manager, mentor and buddy throughout your time on the programme.

What You Will Be Doing
  • We are passionate about your development and offer a programme that will help develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours, both during the scheme and in your future career.
  • You will be involved in live multi discipline projects, learning and upskilling in many areas of our business.
  • Previous Graduates have gone on to become Project Engineers and Project Managers, the future is yours for the taking!
  • The Sizewell C MEH Alliance is responsible for delivering the bulk of piping, HVAC and Electrical (Phase 1) as well as to perform the installation of equipment on Site (Phase 2). As part of Phase 1, Delivery and Integration branch is responsible of preparing for Phase 2. This entails planning for construction, logistics and end to end schedule.
  • As a Graduate, you will support the preparation of construction and develop full sequence from procurement to installation.
  • Reviewing the sequence of Site activities per building (civil works, temporary works, installation, commissioning) aiming to define the conditions and timescales for the installation phase. Refer to best industrial practices to assume duration for different site activities.
  • Working with various disciplines (piping, electrical, ventilation) to capture their sequence for engineering and procurement. Identify maturity of inputs (e.g. design, supply chain) and related critical activities for the upstream sequence (up to delivery of items to Site)
  • Based on the 2 above mentioned inputs, develop the sequence for engineering, procurement and construction. Conduct iterative process to reach most suitable outcomes and work closely with all stakeholders to secure agreement. Provide regular updates to the Project with briefings and presentations.
  • Anticipate, manage and resolve issues throughout the development of the sequence. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the plan, and elevate any issues to the Head of Integration
  • As part of Phase 1, Delivery and Integration branch is responsible for managing a portfolio of Opportunities. Such opportunities encompass various disciplines (e.g. IT, digitalisation, manufacturing, welding, non-destructive testing, modularisation, topograph), they reflect best industrial practices and aim to deliver benefits to the project in Phase 2.
  • As a Graduate, you will support management of the opportunities portfolio as well as the development of specific opportunities.
  • Review best industrial practices to highlight opportunities benefits (quality, time and cost)
  • Gather data from Hinkley Point C and other projects to refine the potential scope for deployment (e.g. diameter, quality grade, type of material, wall thickness for orbital welding) taking cognisance of design criteria, safety case and layout.
  • Identify and assess potential options for implementation (e.g. building, room, type of supports, technology for 3D scan) and present your recommendations to the project
  • Liaise with relevant Subject Matter Experts to gather all inputs required to progress with opportunity assessment
Your Work Location

Whilst you will be based at our Sizewell C office in Bristol with placements of up to 6 months, you may also be required to travel to another location for your placements, to support other business units and to expand your knowledge and experience of the Nuclear Industry.

Be Your Best - Mastery, learning and standards

  • We grow expertise and share knowledge across the programme

  • We learn from near misses and mistakes and apply those lessons
  • We take quality seriously, even when pace and pressure increase

Be True - Truth, courage and stewardship

  • We surface risks early, including those that are difficult to raise
  • We name trade-offs openly rather than smoothing them over
  • We treat bad news as valuable information
  • We make decisions based on long term stewardship, not short-term convenience

Be Together - Partnership, fairness and share ownership

  • We listen in ways that lead to visible change
  • We hold accountability fairly and consistently
  • We include others early, before decisions are made
  • We solve problems collectively across boundaries
Pay, Benefits and Culture

About the Company

When joining Sizewell C, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.

At Sizewell C we encourage and embrace diversity and how it can improve our experience and performance at work. It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility that we can explore, we are fully committed to local recruitment where possible, and those already holding the right to work in the UK.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
