Job summary

Leonardo in Southampton offers a Project Management Degree Apprenticeship spanning four years. You will work within Integrated Project Teams, supporting project execution and delivery while gaining practical on-the-job experience.

Job Description

We support helping you settle into your new location ensuring you are familiar with the team and have a warm welcome from day 1. There is a member of our Apprentice team at each site, helping you progress, ensuring your study time is protected, enabling access to digital learning as well as opportunities to get involved with the local community and STEM projects, enhance many aspects of each programme.

The Apprenticeship

On a Project Management Degree Apprenticeship you will work within the Integrated Project Teams gaining the skills and knowledge to deliver complex projects, utilising strong internal and external customer facing skills. The role will introduce you to all aspects of Project Management including team management, contract status reviews, risk management, lifecycle management and financial management. Working with our experienced project managers you will support project execution and delivery within the Integrated Sensing & Protection line of business. You will engage in a series of placements within different functions or departments in the business to gain a rounded experience and set you up for a final placement in a Project Management role.

You will study with one of our academic partners for completion of a BSc Honours degree in Project Management through a mixture of work based learning, distance learning and attendance at University. This will be achieved by completing the Project Management Apprenticeship standard (ST0411). On successful completion, you will be eligible to become a full member of the Association for Project Management (APM), the Chartered Body for the Profession.

We need people who understand the importance of our Customers and are ready to commit to working in the business, whilst also committing to a 4 year degree programme. At the end of the programme, you will work as a highly qualified member of our Project Management community involved in a variety of world leading products.

During your Apprenticeship we encourage you to spend at least 3/4 days a week on site to integrate with your team and maximise your learning experience.

Requirements

• 3 x A Levels (A*- C) one of which must be English, Maths or a Business related subject
• OR
• An alternative Level 3 qualification, which must be a business-related subject
• AND
• GCSE (Grade 4 - 9 / A*- C) in Maths and English

Salary

£23,500

Security Clearance

As a result, and in line with the UK Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) requirements, all successful applicants will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, criminal record declaration information and employment and/or education history verification for the previous five years.

For staff operating in more sensitive posts, there is an additional range of personnel security controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV). As part of this process, a range of factors may be considered, including an individual's background, travel history, nationality, previous nationalities held and other information relevant to the vetting assessment.

To be eligible for National Security Vetting at SC level, applicants will generally be expected to have continuously resided in the UK for the previous five years. For DV clearance, this is typically ten years. In some circumstances, time spent overseas may be accepted, with additional overseas checks. Additional vetting requirements may apply upon appointment.
