Job summary

House of Commons is seeking a Project Leader (Sandwich Student) to support delivery across the Parliamentary Estate. You will help plan, coordinate, and monitor projects from inception to completion, while gaining hands-on experience in project management and engaging with stakeholders.

The role offers hybrid working with 40% office time. You will develop professional competencies towards chartership with recognised industry bodies and contribute to business cases, risk management, procurement

Qualifications

• Building/Construction/Technical/Surveying/Engineering/Project Management related degree required.
• Ability to plan, prioritise, organise and solve problems effectively in project outcomes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic, proactive and committed to delivering high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of construction, refurbishment and estate improvement projects.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor projects from inception to completion.
• Engage with stakeholders, contribute to business cases, risk management and procurement.
• Prepare project reporting and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Project Leader (Sandwich Student), you will support the delivery of construction, refurbishment, and estate improvement projects across the Parliamentary Estate. Working within the Project Delivery Team, you will help plan, coordinate, and monitor projects from inception through to completion, whilst gaining hands-on experience in project management. You will engage with a wide range of stakeholders, contribute to business cases, risk management, procurement activities, and project reporting, and help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role provides the opportunity to lead smaller projects, support major programmes, and develop professional competencies towards chartership with recognised industry bodies.

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with an expectation of you spending 40% of your time in the office. Find out more about working at the House of Commons.

What We're Looking For

• Candidates will need to be studying towards a Building/Construction/Technical/ Surveying/Engineering/Project Management related degree.

(Please note that students studying for a non-technical degree or ICT project management course are unlikely to be suitable for this position)

• Demonstrates the ability to plan, prioritise, organise and solve problems effectively, understanding how these activities contribute to successful project outcomes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and adapt communication style for different stakeholders and audiences.
