Job description

Our engineering clients based close to Winchester have an exciting opportunity for a Project Leader to join their growing team.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Engineer to lead and manage Engineering projects from concept through to completion. This role requires strong project ownership, technical acumen, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure successful delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead manufacturing projects from initial concept through design, development, tooling, production, and delivery phases.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including milestones, budgets, in line with resource allocation plan.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, track costs throughout the project lifecycle, and ensure financial targets are met.
  • Compile costings using standard Excel‑based models and update them as the project evolves.
  • Work to tight, customer‑driven deadlines using APQP‑based systems and internal stage‑gate processes.
  • Ensure timely completion of all engineering deliverables and production readiness.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with relevant safety standards and internal quality procedures.
  • Support risk assessments, FMEA reviews, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Liaise with Design, Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Sales teams to ensure alignment and smooth project execution.
  • Work directly with suppliers to develop tooling and manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with document control procedures.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide engineering support to Product Management and Sales teams, including participation in customer meetings and technical reviews.
Required Skills & experience:
  • Proven experience in managing manufacturing or engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • PRINCE2/APM PMQ - desirable.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc/BEng or equivalent).

Working hours:
Monday - Thursday 07:30am - 4:45pm
Friday - 07:30am - 12midday
