Job description

The Growth Company’s (GC) Business Growth Hub (BGH) team is looking for a Project Finance Officer to support the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant financial administration across a portfolio of publicly funded and commercial programmes. You will prepare, collate and verify financial data for grant claims, internal recharges and reconciliations, ensuring all records are complete and meet funding, organisational and audit requirements. The role will also provide first-line systems support and administrative assistance to the wider Programme Finance Team.

BGH supports businesses across Greater Manchester with expert advice on funding, innovation, people, sales and sustainability. We provide tailored support to meet the needs of each business at every stage of its growth journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer internal recharge processes across multiple cost centres and funding streams, ensuring costs are accurately allocated, correctly coded and fully supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Process routine financial transactions, including purchase orders, invoices, sales invoice requests, journals and internal recharges, in line with approved organisational procedures.
  • Reconcile recharge data and other financial transactions across systems, resolving routine discrepancies and escalating more complex issues to the Project Accountant.
  • Prepare, compile and submit funder claims and associated financial data, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with funding requirements and contractual deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records across assigned programmes, ensuring transactions are correctly recorded, coded and fully supported for audit purposes.
  • Support the production of financial monitoring and management information by extracting, validating and formatting data from financial systems.
  • Maintain robust and transparent audit trails to support internal and external audit requirements, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate and stored in line with organisational standards.
  • Support financial planning processes by assisting with budget preparation, forecasting and routine financial reporting activities.
About You:
  • Experience of working within a finance, administration or data-processing role.
  • Familiar with financial systems, databases and transactional processes.
  • A relevant qualification, or equivalent experience, in finance, business administration or accounting support.
  • Basic understanding of financial processes, bookkeeping principles and transactional accounting.
  • Comfortable working within a structured, regulated or compliance-driven environment.
Skills required:
  • Strong numerical accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident processing and managing large or complex volumes of financial data accurately.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Power BI and other financial systems.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to follow procedures and work within defined frameworks while maintaining data integrity, confidentiality and audit requirements.
