Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment Limited are partnering with a growing Chelmsford consultancy to appoint a Project Engineer (Water / Commissioning). You will oversee multiple Thames Water projects from design through commissioning and handover, whilst maintaining client relationships and high-quality documentation.

The role requires leading design and commissioning activities, managing site work, and mentoring junior engineers in a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Project/Commissioning Engineer or similar in a water-related environment.
• Strong understanding of project lifecycle from design through to handover.
• Willingness to travel/commute to Chelmsford and site visits as required.

Responsibilities

• Head up numerous projects simultaneously, work through entire project lifecycle
• Lead design, installation and commissioning phases
• Produce reports, documentation and attend project meetings

Are you a Project / Commissioning Engineer or similar from a Water industry background looking for a technical role offering full autonomy to oversee specialist projects for a varied client base of primarily blue-chip clients within a tight-knit, growing consultancy offering the chance to progress to leadership roles?

This growing consultancy is supporting a large volume of work across the Thames Water framework and is looking for someone who can add real value across multiple live schemes. With over 20 projects in motion and a tight-knit team, they need engineers who can take ownership, challenge designs, and ensure projects are delivered properly.

In this role, you will oversee the full lifecycle of projects from early design input through to commissioning and handover. You'll be trusted to manage your own workload, lead meetings, produce high-quality documentation, and ensure work on site is delivered safely and to standard.

This role would suit someone who is confident in their ability, comfortable being client-facing, and looking to step into a position where they can influence delivery and help shape a growing team.

The Role:
