We’re looking for a driven and capable Project Engineer to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of engineering and improvement projects at our well-established manufacturing site in Ashington. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to make an impact in a dynamic, safety-focused, and process-intensive environment.

About the Role

As a Project Engineer, you will take ownership of projects from concept through to completion. This includes planning, budgeting, coordination, and on-site execution often requiring a presence during key installation or commissioning phases, which may occasionally fall on weekends or outside standard hours.

You’ll collaborate with internal departments and external contractors to ensure projects enhance site performance, meet safety standards, and are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments
  • Oversee procurement, installation, commissioning, and final handover
  • Drive improvements in operational efficiency, reliability, and safety
  • Maintain full project documentation and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Manage contractor activities and liaise with cross-functional teams
  • Champion a safety-first approach and compliance with CDM, PTW, MOC, and PSM standards
  • Be available for critical project phases which may occur during weekends or outside core hours

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years' experience in project or process engineering, preferably in a chemical, coatings, or similar manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated success managing complex engineering projects
  • Solid understanding of process safety and engineering compliance frameworks
  • Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to coordinate diverse stakeholders
  • Comfortable working on-site in a fast-paced, production environment with flexible availability when required
