Job description

MCS Group is proud to support our client in the recruitment of a Project Manager based in Belfast. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading organisation driving change in Northern Ireland's evolving energy sector.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is eager to learn, grow, and develop their career in project management within the electricity sector. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape how the transmission grid in Northern Ireland evolves, supporting the transformation of the power system and enabling the transition to a low‑carbon energy future.

As part of the Networks team, you will work alongside power system planning engineers, project managers, and commercial analysts to deliver innovative solutions that reinforce the transmission system and connect new generation and demand customers.

This varied role will give you exposure to both office‑based project work and site visits at existing and new substations, as well as transmission circuit sites. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure projects that contribute to Northern Ireland's energy transition.

Qualifications
  • Degree level qualification in engineering, planning or environmental field; or equivalent qualification
  • Experience managing capital projects.
  • Effective communication skills with an emphasis on high quality report writing and an ability to convey technical concepts to a non‑technical audience.
  • Highly organised with the ability to work on initiative and coordinate the activity others whilst working effectively as part of a team.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and stakeholders with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Excellent analysis, judgement and problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated flexible working approach with the ability to manage and deliver on a range of projects and activities.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office packages.
  • Full, clean driving licence with access to a car.
Desirable
  • Experience in managing large capital or linear infrastructure projects, environmental planning (energy sector preferred), and regulated utilities; strong knowledge of project management (PMP or working towards), budgeting, CDM regulations, and commercial/technical aspects of the power industry.
