Job summary

Tata Technologies is recruiting a Project Engineer – Infotainment Displays to deliver state-of-the-art infotainment features for cockpit electronics. The role is based at our customer site in Bicester and involves hands-on development, testing and timely delivery.

You will work with cross-functional teams, manage multiple suppliers, and drive hardware/software integration across the vehicle architecture to meet quality, cost and schedule targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in infotainment systems and vehicle integration.
• Experience with DFMEA and hardware/software testing.
• Knowledge of vehicle networks CAN/LIN/Ethernet.

Job description

Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Project Engineer – Infotainment Displays to be based at our customer’s site in Bicester.

Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

Role Summary:

The Project Engineer – Infotainment Displays is responsible for development, test and delivery of state-of-the-art infotainment and multimedia features.

The role requires a highly motivated and hands‑on team player with an exceptional attention to detail. The role will suit an Engineer who has the ability to quickly develop skills in new areas and liaise with other engineers within a multidisciplinary team.

Dimension of function:

Engineering, Research and Development (ER&D) is a growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on projects and programmes for our clients. This position will be working on Infotainment features within the cockpit electronics projects for our customers.

Areas of responsibility:

The Cockpit Electronics team is responsible for the specification, test and delivery of infotainment systems, displays, audio systems and interior switches. The responsibilities of the Senior Infotainment Engineer will include the following:

• Oversee the management of suppliers
• Leading the development of the roadmap for the future displays in road cars
• Write detailed system specifications for all displays
• Lead integration of displays with the overall vehicle architecture
• Manage the development of multiple hardware and software suppliers to deliver features on time, on cost, and within quality and functional specifications
• Report on current activities, software, hardware status and issues at a business level
• Manage cross functional teams to deliver DFMEA and vehicle validation plans
• Develop and co‑ordinate DVP plans for all areas associated with cockpit systems software and hardware
• Ensure and sign‑off launch readiness for production
• Test road cars with the latest features and content before release
• Assist with fault finding and root cause analysis of software and hardware failures
• Report bugs and create test reports
• Drive issue resolution with hardware and software suppliers
• Take responsibility for resolving issues on current production vehicles
• Leading the mechanical integration of their components within the vehicle interior
• Manage supplier relationships to deliver features and components on time
• Be responsible for the attribute performance of the displays

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Several years of work experience in displays development and delivery of mechanical, electrical or electronic systems for automotive applications
• Experience of the systems development lifecycle (V Model), writing system requirements, defining test cases and writing test procedures
• Experience of managing projects using risk management techniques
• Understanding of ‘A‑Surface’ interactions and perceived quality concepts
• Ability to produce formal documentation to a professional standard
• Experience in hardware design and testing processes
• Be well versed in the creation and maintenance of DFMEA's
• Organized, systematic and understand the process of fault finding
• Knowledge of CAN/LIN/Ethernet and related tools such as CANoe/CANalyzer
• Familiar with issue tracking tools (Jira, Mantis, Bugzilla etc.)
• Bachelor's degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineering subject.
• Experience with Infotainment Systems: Displays & Control Unit and Infotainment HMI features.
• Experience and understanding of vehicle level system integration in terms of hardware and software
• Experience of systems testing of HMI‑based systems.
