Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to support the delivery of wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure design projects under an NEC contract framework. This design‑led role spans the full project lifecycle, from concept through to construction issue, ensuring effective coordination, compliance, and technical quality.

The location of this position is working across the Anglian Water Alliance projects.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate design activities from feasibility to detailed design and construction issue.
  • Interpret client requirements and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with planning teams to develop and maintain P6 programmes.
  • Act as the key interface between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Manage design deliverables including drawings, reports, specifications, and schedules.
  • Support construction teams with technical queries, constructability reviews, and handover documentation.
  • Ensure all designs meet health and safety legislation, technical standards, and NEC contract obligations.
  • Attend project meetings and contribute to design reviews and progress updates.
  • Provide mentoring and technical support to junior staff.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including registers and logs.
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or ICA Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and engineering design standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and familiar with NEC contract processes.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Desirable
  • Experience in the water and wastewater industry.
  • Familiarity with WIMES standards and BIM processes.
  • Understanding of programme and schedule management.
  • Commercial and contract awareness.
  • PRINCE2, SMSTS, or NEBOSH qualifications.
