Project Engineer - Rail * 6 month contract * Sheffield * Up to £600 Outside IR35 * Rail Experience Needed RT Consulting are an established Gold ERS armed forces covenant SME, we are a Management Consultancy with over 15 years' experience in driving innovation and transformation in key sectors, including Defence, Local & Central Government, Policing and Transport. As a result of continued success, we are expanding our society of consultants to fulfil current and future demands from our defence portfolio, particularly one of the largest Defence frameworks within the UK which we have proudly been supporting for over 5 years. We are looking for a Project Engineer with the following experience: Engineering Delivery * Undertake technical tasks across light rail disciplines including traction power, depot upgrades, signalling, communications, and asset management. * Lead scheme development through investigation, site inspections, data analysis, design, and construction supervision. * Apply independent engineering judgement to deliver innovative solutions. Project Management * Deliver projects within the £100m renewal programme to agreed standards of time, cost, quality, and safety. * Manage multi-disciplinary teams including internal staff, contractors, transport operators, and external advisors. * Monitor progress, resolve issues, and make timely decisions to maintain budget and schedule. * Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations. Project Controls & Reporting * Produce and maintain project documentation including schedules, risk registers, cost reports, change logs, and monthly updates. * Lead financial management of projects including forecasting, control, construction costs, and contingency planning. * Support final account preparation and accurate reporting throughout all project stages.
