Project Engineer

Wednesbury, West Midlands • £40,000 – £45,000 per annum

We are a UK engineering and fabrication specialist working across energy, nuclear, defence, aerospace, and environmental sectors. Business is growing and we are looking for a Project Engineer who thrives on variety, complexity, and delivering one-off solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead bespoke engineering projects from concept to commissioning, ensuring no repeat work and each project is unique.
  • Coordinate across design, fabrication, welding, and site teams to keep projects on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Own projects end‑to‑end: client liaison, fabrication, installation, commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, BS EN 1090 and welding standards.
  • Manage project plans, schedules, budgets, risk and scope.
  • Produce and control WPS, inspection/test plans, traceability records.
  • Identify and solve technical challenges and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Metallurgical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in heavy engineering, one‑off or batch environments.
  • Strong knowledge of welding standards and processes (ARC, MIG, TIG).
  • Hands‑on experience with ISO 9001 systems and technical documentation.
  • Proven track record delivering unique, tailored engineering projects.
