The Maintenance / Faults Delivery Engineer ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of SP Energy Networks electricity distribution infrastructure. This includes both planned maintenance and rapid response to faults to minimise customer impact. You will also deliver district business plan outputs in line with financial, regulatory and business plan objectives whilst optimising return through incentive mechanisms.

What you'll be doing
  • Deliver district business plan outputs-for system performance, maintenance, and reliability in line with regulatory commitments (e.g. Customer Minutes Lost, Customer Interruptions).

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute maintenance activities (preventive and corrective) across overhead lines, underground cables, and substations.

  • Respond promptly to network faults, carrying out diagnosis, isolation, restoration, and repair activities.

  • Produce and implement fault rectification plans; minimise customer interruptions during fault resolution and capital works.

  • Ensure continuous system performance by analysing fault data, extracting insights, and implementing improvement measures.

  • Record and report maintenance/fault activities accurately into corporate systems to ensure compliance and traceability.

  • Deliver capital investment and fault-related projects with strict adherence to safety, regulatory requirements, and cost targets.

  • Lead and promote an exemplary safety culture; maintain high standards of health & safety compliance across all activities.

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to deliver planned maintenance and emergency fault repair works.

  • Assist project planning to minimise planned and unplanned outages and align maintenance with business objectives.

  • Drive continual performance improvement through analysis of outputs and feedback from internal and external sources.

  • Integrate asset stewardship and ownership values through sound engineering principles and coordinated planning and delivery activities to improve integrity, safety, and longevity of the electrical network.

What you'll bring
  • Technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering role.

  • Relevant operational authorisations are required.

  • Project management experience is preferred but not essential.

  • Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges.

  • Effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.

  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions.

  • General contract, commercial and regulatory awareness with the ability to balance effective and efficient customer service and project delivery, ensuring maximum return on investment.

  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.

  • Awareness and understanding of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SPEN is operating.

  • Proactively engage with internal / external workforce to ensure project objectives are met.

  • Provide district-based training to support internal / external operational growth.

Minimum Criteria
  • Experience in network and operational role

  • Experience in a project delivery role

  • Computer literacy

  • Engineering or Project Management/Professional qualification or equivalent experience
