Job Description

Astute's Renewables team is partnered with an established anaerobic digestion business who design, build and operate assets. They’re looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to support with their expanding portfolio.

The Project Engineer role comes with a competitive salary (depending on experience), car allowance, pension, private health and dental care.

Responsibilities
  • Key point of contact for all project technical matters relating to FEED engineering and key design subcontractors: Architect, Civils, Process/Mech/Elec etc.
  • Create, own, and continuously improve design specifications.
  • Support the development team on technical deliverables: site layouts, gas/electrical grid connections.
  • Support the operations team on new acquisitions, including technical integration, H&S integration, and executing improvement plans.
  • Take technical and PM lead on improvements and expansions of newly acquired plants, for example installing CO2 capture, expanding plant capacity, overhauling equipment.
  • Own and maintain the project model/business case, including carrying out economic analysis of equipment selection choices, and understanding their impact on the business case.
  • Represent the project owner and contribute to design review activities, including HAZID, HAZOP, DSEAR and SIL assessments, equipment suppliers, creating the WBS, and the overall FEED packages.
  • Identify and prioritise key risks and prioritise their mitigation measures, and participate in risk reviews at both project and FEED contractor level.
  • Produce regular reports and updates on project progress.
  • Other duties as required.
Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Personal Skills
  • 5 years+ experience in a related Engineering field, with a solid understanding of basic process engineering and controls.
  • 5 years+ proven experience in the role of Project Engineer/Project Development Engineer.
  • Detailed knowledge of process and mechanical engineering through full project lifecycle (including EPC & commissioning), ideally with a good working knowledge of C&I deployment in projects.
  • Able to communicate clearly at all organisational levels.
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
  • Proven ability to work and direct work safely, ensuring the safety of others and complying with all safety assessment requirements.
