Project Engineer - Anaerobic Digestion

Alecto Recruitment is partnering with a market-leading Owner-Operator of a portfolio of Biogas facilities and requires a Project Engineer to carry out technical feasibility studies and provide support across project phases, including construction and procurement on their ongoing projects.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the technical interface for FEED engineering and design subcontractors (Architectural, Civil, Process, Mechanical, Electrical).
  • Develop, own, and continuously improve design specifications and standards.
  • Support development and operations teams with site layouts, grid connections, and technical integration of new assets.
  • Lead technical improvements and expansion projects (e.g. CO₂ capture, capacity upgrades, equipment overhauls).
  • Maintain and optimise project models/business cases, including economic analysis of design choices.
  • Represent the project owner in design reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, DSEAR, SIL).
  • Support programme development, scheduling, and supplier coordination.
  • Identify, prioritise, and mitigate technical and project risks.
  • Report regularly on progress and performance, promoting a culture of excellence, safety, and on-time delivery.
Your Skills & Experience:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in process or project engineering roles.
  • Strong knowledge across the full project lifecycle (EPC & commissioning).
  • Solid understanding of process, mechanical, and control systems engineering.
  • Effective communicator with proven leadership and accountability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.
  • Technically agile with the ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
