Job description

Iveco Defense Vehicles (IDV US), under our parent company Iveco Group, designs and produces vehicles for military and civil protection applications. Iveco Defense Vehicles, headquartered in Bolzano, provides a product portfolio comprised of four segments: heavy vehicles for logistics, tactical vehicles, protected vehicles, and multi‑role vehicles. Iveco Defense Vehicles are built on cutting‑edge anti‑ballistic, anti‑mine, and other life‑saving technology, ensuring maximum mobility in the most difficult environments. Our US location is based in York, Pennsylvania.

The Project Engineer ACV is to manage and coordinate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) program in support of the U.S. Marine Corps. The Project Engineer will focus on sustainability, reliability, and cost improvement initiatives while providing cross‑functional engineering support to IDV USA’s technicians, logistics, quality, and program management teams. This role plays a key part in driving continuous product improvement and ensuring alignment with customer and stakeholder requirements throughout the vehicle lifecycle. This is a salary, non‑exempt position.

Duties and Responsibilities
Manage Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
  • Liaison with IDV SpA design authority, engineering teams, and suppliers.
  • Lead the US‑side development, coordination, and implementation of ECPs for the ACV program.
  • Ensure proposals address long‑term vehicle sustainability, reliability enhancements, and cost efficiency.
  • Track ECP progress, perform risk analysis, and coordinate reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
Provide engineering support across functions
  • Partner with technicians to troubleshoot technical issues and improve maintainability.
  • Support the logistics team with technical data, provisioning documentation, and maintenance manuals.
  • Assist quality teams in root cause analysis, corrective action development, and production support.
  • Serve as an engineering liaison across IDV USA departments to enhance overall program effectiveness.
Ensure technical compliance and integration
  • Review technical documentation and ensure all changes meet U.S. Marine Corps specifications and requirements.
  • Support design reviews, configuration management, and systems integration activities.
  • Contribute to validation and verification plans for engineering changes.
Contribute to customer and program success
  • Collaborate with program managers to align ECP milestones with contract deliverables.
  • Interface with U.S. Government representatives during reviews, inspections, and audits.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and change justifications as part of customer briefings.
Qualifications
  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Minimum of 3–5 years of engineering experience, ideally supporting military ground vehicle programs.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Department of Defense vehicle programs and engineering lifecycle standards.
  • Understanding of configuration management, logistics support analysis, and reliability engineering principles.
  • Strong project coordination and communication skills.
  • Proficient in CAD tools, MS Project, and engineering documentation systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and military specifications.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional environment.
  • Results‑driven, organized, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, defense‑oriented setting.
  • Experience managing or contributing to ECPs or engineering change control processes.
  • Background in vehicle design, production support, or sustainment engineering.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Requires working in a standard office environment with typical office hours, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to meet project deadlines or attend meetings, but it is not the norm. The job will involve travel (~20%) for meetings, conferences, demonstrations, sales, or training purposes. The position requires the ability to work in a standard office environment, which may include sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. While the job does not typically involve heavy lifting or strenuous physical activity, occasional movement and lifting of parts, supplies, and materials may be required.
