Job description
Project Engineer - Mechanical Bias (with Electrical Appreciation)

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)

Employment Type: Permanent

Travis Talent is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a long-established and growing manufacturing business in Sheffield that delivers high-quality engineered solutions across a range of industries.

We're looking for a Project Engineer who thrives on variety and ownership — someone who enjoys taking projects from concept through to completion, bringing together people, parts, and processes to deliver on time and on spec.

The Role

You’ll oversee the full project lifecycle — planning, coordinating, and delivering engineering projects from initial concept to installation. That means producing and maintaining detailed project plans, identifying critical paths, managing risks, and ensuring deadlines are met.

Working closely with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams (including Engineering, Production, and Procurement), you’ll be the key point of contact throughout. You’ll attend internal handovers and client kick-off meetings, and ensure all site documentation — from RAMS to Lift Plans — is prepared to the highest standards.

The role offers the perfect balance between office and site work, so no two days will feel the same.

About You

You’ll likely come from a mechanical engineering background, but this client values people with a broader technical understanding — so if you’ve got electrical knowledge or experience, that’s a big advantage.

You’ll need to be:

  • Organised, detail-focused, and proactive in managing timelines and deliverables
  • Confident liaising with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Comfortable working across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Passionate about safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Experience in manufacturing, machinery installation, or capital equipment projects would be ideal.

What’s on Offer
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Genuine variety and project ownership
  • Opportunity to join a respected, growing business at an exciting stage
  • Supportive, close-knit engineering environment

If you’re a hands‑on Project Engineer who enjoys seeing things through from idea to installation, we’d love to hear from you.
