Project Engineer (Mechanical) – West Yorkshire | £50,000 - £60,000 + car allowance, benefits | Full Time, 45 hrs

Are you a Project Engineer with a strong mechanical background, ready to take ownership of key capital projects within the water industry? This is your chance to join a well-established contractor delivering essential Yorkshire Water capex projects that directly impact local communities.

The Opportunity

As a Project Engineer (Mechanical), you'll be at the heart of the action — coordinating all mechanical engineering functions across pre- and post-contract stages. From procurement and planning through to installation and handover, you'll ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical and safety standards.

This role isn't just about ticking boxes. You'll be working on high-profile mechanical capex projects that matter, liaising with designers, suppliers, and subcontractors to drive successful outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical engineering delivery across multiple Yorkshire Water projects.
  • Coordinate procurement, subcontractors, and offsite modular solutions.
  • Ensure designs and installations integrate seamlessly with other disciplines.
  • Oversee quality, productivity, and safety standards on and off site.
  • Support commercial colleagues on contracts, costs, and subcontract reviews.
  • Act as the go-to Project Engineer for installation, technical, and client matters.
Qualifications
  • Mechanical Project Engineer background with at least 5 years' industry experience.
  • Degree/HNC qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Water & wastewater industry knowledge.
  • SMSTS / SSSTS, CSCS, First Aid.
  • Organised, commercially aware, and confident leading from the front.
