Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking a Professional/Experienced Project Engineer to join our Manchester-based renewable project delivery team. You will manage engineering work packages for Primary Equipment projects, coordinating between design, test, manufacture, and site installation to meet budget, safety, quality and schedule targets.

Ideally, you have a degree in electrical engineering with ~5 years of HV transmission experience, strong MS Office skills, and proficiency in English.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering or power engineering or equivalent (3+ years duration).
• Post-graduate project management experience desirable.
• Experience with high voltage transmission equipment and related systems (~5 years).
• Strong knowledge of MS Office and project management tools.
• Fluent English; German optional; willingness to travel for business.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Primary Equipment project scope to budget, safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
• Coordinate between primary design, test, and manufacture functions to deliver reliable electrical design, drawings, hardware delivery, and site installation management.
• Prepare offers and project management delivery of all primary and auxiliary electrical systems regarding schedule, cost, quality and safety.
• Manage the transmission equipment offer/order processing team with close coordination with project management and subject-matter experts.
• Oversee planning, monitoring, and controlling the offer/order processing, including technical conception, scope delimitation, scheduling, costing, quality control, and risk management.

In this role, you will manage engineering work packages in line with project and business objectives. The Siemens Energy Division ‘Grid Technology’ is one of the leading global suppliers of products, systems, solutions, and services for the economical, reliable, and intelligent transmission and distribution of bulk electrical power. Within Grid Technology Solutions, we connect clean and renewable energy—mainly Offshore Wind Farms and Interconnectors to the National Grids in the UK and overseas.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Accountable for the delivery of the ‘Primary Equipment’ project scope to budget (or better than budget) and to safety, quality, performance, and schedule requirements.
• Coordinate between all primary design, test, and manufacture functions to produce a robust and reliable electrical design and engineering package, including associated engineering drawings, hardware delivery, and site installation management.
• Responsible for the preparation of offers and project management delivery of all project-related primary and auxiliary electrical systems regarding schedule, cost, quality, and safety.
• Manage the transmission equipment offer/order processing team, ensuring close coordination with project management, project leads, and experts from various fields.
• Oversee planning, monitoring, and controlling the offer/order processing, including technical conception, scope delimitation, scheduling, costing, quality control, and risk management.

What You’ll Bring

• A successfully completed university degree in electrical engineering, electrical power engineering, or a comparable qualification, with a standard duration of > 3 years.
• Some post-graduate professional experience is desirable, along with experience in project management.
• Technically knowledgeable and experienced in high voltage transmission equipment and auxiliary systems, with approximately 5 years of proven track record.
• Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications and project management tools.
• Business fluent communication in English, with German as an optional language.
• Intercultural experience and a willingness to undertake business trips.
