Project Engineer

Are you an experienced Projects Engineer with a background within the Rail industry, looking to lead exciting rolling stock projects and develop your career in a dynamic, innovative environment?

This leading engineering services company works with major clients across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to join their growing team, taking ownership of design, re‑engineering, and installation projects while overseeing a small team of engineers. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you'll lead project delivery, interface with customers and stakeholders, and ensure all engineering solutions meet quality, cost, and time requirements.

This position is ideal for someone with strong project experience within the rail industry, either passenger and/or freight who is based within a commutable distance of Derby and looking to grow their skill set within a stable, well‑established organisation.

The Role:
  • Manage projects from concept to delivery, ensuring timescale, quality, and budget compliance, lead a team delivering rolling stock design projects, managing resources and all project deliverables. Liaise directly with customers/stakeholders, supporting on‑site installation teams as needed
  • Up to 55,000 per annum
  • Office based with visits to site as and when required
The Person:
  • Background in passenger and/or freight rail
  • Strong project and team management skills
  • Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD design
  • Able to work independently, prioritise workloads, and take initiative
