Overview

Project Engineer

Location: Camberley

Reports To: Engineering and Sales Manager

Hours: 39 hours per week

Job Type: Permanent

Purpose of the Role

To lead the design and delivery of hydraulic projects from concept to installation. This role involves direct customer engagement, technical problem-solving, and system optimisation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong engineering expertise, a passion for fluid mechanics, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop hydraulic systems and components for defence, aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, and other specialised industrial sectors
  • Collaborate directly with customers to define requirements and deliver tailored solutions
  • Conduct simulations and fluid dynamics modelling using CAD and FEA tools
  • Analyse system performance to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical and electrical engineering teams
  • Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and project reports
  • Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of hydraulic systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance and reliability issues
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in hydraulic engineering
  • Perform other reasonable ad hoc duties as required
Person Specification
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years' experience in hydraulic system design and analysis
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, MATLAB, or equivalent tools
  • Strong hands-on experience with hydraulic systems and schematics
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and relevant industry standards
  • Knowledge of environmental and sustainability factors in hydraulic design
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Able to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Comfortable in customer-facing roles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
