About us

Founded in 2022, Onnu is a pyrolysis technology provider, committed to scaling biomass pyrolysis and biochar to deliver profitable carbon removal and green energy globally. We develop and engineer affordable, versatile and high‑capacity pyrolysis machines across Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia. Additionally, we trade EBC certified biochar and renewable commodities via our business arms, Onnu Biochar and Onnu Bioflow.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Development Manager who combines strong project management skills with a solid engineering background. This role is ideal for someone who understands the technical interfaces between complex renewable energy equipment for pyrolysis systems.

About the role

Day‑to‑day activities will include:

  • Leading the end‑to‑end delivery of multiple renewable energy projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Coordinating with engineering teams to understand the technical requirements and interfaces of various systems and components.
  • Managing relationships with suppliers, contractors, and clients to align project milestones and resolve technical issues.
  • Overseeing the integration of biomass boilers, pyrolysis units, and associated renewable energy systems, ensuring all technical specifications and safety standards are met.
  • Utilising project management methodologies to structure project workflows and manage risk.
  • Controlling all the financial, technical, and commercial aspects of the contract.
  • Overseeing vendor and subcontractor management, responsibility for procurement, milestone completion and client supplier meetings.
  • Conducting site visits and technical inspections as needed, ensuring seamless installation and commissioning.
The ideal candidate
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in the renewable energy sector, particularly involving biomass boilers, pyrolysis, or similar technologies.
  • Strong engineering background with the ability to understand and manage the technical interface.
  • Ability to understand and manage the technical interfaces between various renewable energy components and systems.
  • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder management.
  • Hands‑on experience with biomass boilers, pyrolysis units, or similar renewable energy systems is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, proven knowledge of the energy industry, contract procurement, environmental, legislation, H&S legislation and planning, regulations (nice to have).
  • Commutable 3‑days a week to Maidenhead with occasional site visits.
