Project Development Manager

Location: Bedfordshire

Salary: £50,000 £65,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Full-Time, Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days remote)

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing and forward-thinking specialist development management company. Due to continued expansion and a rise in consultancy demand, our client is seeking an experienced and driven Project Development / Operations Manager to join their team.

This is a key position within the business, combining project delivery with a strong focus on new business development and strategic growth .

Role Overview :

The successful candidate will manage and deliver a range of projects valued between £250k and £25m, taking them through all RIBA stages from concept to completion. Alongside overseeing operational and technical delivery, the role requires identifying and securing new opportunities, developing client relationships, and supporting the company's commercial growth strategy.

You will collaborate closely with internal environmental, planning and design teams, as well as external consultants and partners, to ensure the successful execution of all projects while expanding the company's project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Define project scope, objectives and deliverables aligned with company strategy.
  • Develop and oversee detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets and resources.
  • Lead, motivate and coordinate cross-functional project teams.
  • Drive new business development, including identifying potential clients, preparing proposals, and building lasting relationships.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and progress reporting.
  • Manage project risks and ensure delivery within budget, scope and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to business cases and solutions for new service areas and initiatives.
Required Qualifications and Experience :
  • Degree (BSc / MSc) in Project Management, Business Management or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing complex development projects, budgets and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business and maintain client relationships.
  • Solid understanding of JCT contracts (advantageous).
  • Excellent communication, commercial awareness and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
