A renowned museum in Camden Town seeks an individual for the role focused on the accuracy of Iron Age and Roman coin data. The successful candidate will assist in training and have a strong background in history or archaeology, especially with coins. Flexible working arrangements are available, with on-site presence required three days per week.
The main roles of the postholder will be to ensure the consistency and accuracy of Iron Age and Roman coin data recorded by the Scheme's network of locally based Finds Liaison Officers (FLOs), assisting in the delivery of training of FLOs. Additionally, they will support the Curator: Iron Age and Roman Coin Finds in research and publication of coin finds data from England and Wales. This data is transforming our knowledge of Iron Age and Roman Britain and we are keen that this postholder helps drive that work going forward.
We offer flexible working that allows our employees to work remotely in a way that suits them and the organisation. We welcome questions and conversations at interview stage about how flexible working could work for you. Typically we see this role as working on site for at least 3 days per week.
Applicants are educated to degree‑level or equivalent in history, archaeology, or a similar discipline. You should also have an excellent knowledge of Iron Age and (particularly) Roman coins, and experience documenting and cataloguing coin finds within a museum or archaeological setting. Experience working in a museum environment or with the Portable Antiquities Scheme is desirable. Some experience of management issues (people, projects, budgets) and a record of publications in peer‑reviewed journals are advantageous.
